Ill Health Retirement

Ill-Health Retirement

At COPE, we specialise in providing clear, objective, and comprehensive assessments for ill-health retirement cases.

Our experienced Occupational Health Physicians (OHPs) and Advisers work closely with employees, employers, and pension trustees to ensure fair, evidence-based decisions are made regarding ill-health retirement eligibility.

Whether in the public or private sector, we tailor our services to meet the specific requirements of your pension scheme, offering impartial guidance every step of the way.

How Ill-Health Retirement Assessments Work

  • Medical Evidence Review:
We gather and review all relevant medical evidence, including GP and specialist reports, to provide a detailed overview of the employee’s health condition.

  • Consultations:
Face-to-face or virtual consultations with an Occupational Health Physician to verify medical history, assess physical and cognitive capabilities, and understand workplace challenges.

  • Comprehensive Reporting:
We provide clear, concise reports in a format that meets the requirements of your pension scheme, written in layman’s terms where necessary. These reports cover:
  • Relevant medical facts
  • The employee’s current and future work capabilities
  • Reasoning behind the opinion given

  • Further Support:
If required, our OHPs can attend trustee meetings to offer additional advice or clarification to assist in decision-making.
